Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United are close to completing another transfer that could have a huge impact on the future of the club.

United spent more than €250 million recruiting first-team stars in the summer, with Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and now Senne Lammens all having an impact on the first team.

But the Red Devils are also working to snap up some of the brightest young talent in the world, with another potential superstar having turned heads at Old Trafford, Romano reports.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he revealed: “After completing the signing of Juan Orozco - the Colombian midfielder born in 2008 who will join in 2026 from Fortaleza - they’ve also had 17-year-old Senegalese talent Mouhamed Dabo on trial. United were very happy with his performance and are now working on the formal steps to see if the deal can be completed.

“This shows the strategy at United: yes, they’re targeting big names for the first team, but they’re also investing in young talent for the present and the future. It’s something we’ve seen over the past year, they want to bring through young players who can develop into first-team options. Orozco is done, and Dabo could be the next one if all the formalities go through.”

Dabo ‘ready’ for big-time football

United have been following the progress of Dabo, who plays for Be Sport Academy in Senegal, for several months, with the Red Devils impressed with what he brings to the table.

AfricaFoot wrote: “According to our information, the feedback has been very positive. The English club’s coaching staff has been impressed by his all-round skills: clean tackling, vision, composure, ball control, leadership, relentless work, progressive passing, and pace control.

“These are rare qualities for a player of his age, which explains the growing interest in his profile.”

It goes on to report that there is a belief at Man Utd that Dabo is “already ready” for the top level, suggesting that he could be thrust into the first-team picture sooner rather than later.

Dabo only turns 18 in March, meaning that he can only complete his move to Old Trafford next summer.
