Manchester United remain keen on Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, according to German media.

The 24-year-old has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the Bundesliga due to his brilliant development in recent years. Stiller, who came through Bayern Munich's academy, is a full-fledged Germany international and one of the best midfielders in the country.

He has been pivotal to Stuttgart's success under Sebastian Hoeness, playing key roles as they finished runners-up in the Bundesliga in 2023/24 and then won the DFB-Pokal in 2024/25.

In the summer, Stiller was linked with the likes of Real Madrid, where he was billed as the successor to Toni Kroos, and Man Utd. Contrary to reports at the time, the latter did not actually make an offer for him, but there was genuine interest.

According to Sky Germany, Stiller remains high on the Red Devils' list of targets, and it is believed that the player will be keen to take the next step in his career in the summer.

Stiller given €50m price tag

The report mentions that Stuttgart have set a first tentative price tag of €50 million for the 24-year-old, but this is subject to change. He had a few underwhelming games at the start of the season, but he now looks back to his best, and this could further boost his value.

The idea that a suitor could pay his €40 million release clause is being dismissed because Stuttgart can remove this clause by paying the player a €2m compensation fee. While not formally done yet, this is already being budgeted for.

This means that they will be able to freely negotiate with his admirers in the summer, putting them in a strong position. Stiller's contract with the Swabians still runs until 2028.

At €50m, Stiller would be significantly more affordable for Man Utd compared to Carlos Baleba, Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson. However, club chiefs will surely be aware that the German is much less of a ball-winner and much more of a playmaker than the other options.

It is therefore doubtful whether Stiller would be the right option for the Red Devils, given that they already have Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo, who is not getting much of a look-in because Ruben Amorim only uses one midfielder with that particular profile.
