Man Utd get Endrick update as ‘clear frontrunner’ for Real Madrid star emerges
Manchester United have targeted Real Madrid attacker Endrick for the January transfer window and have received a major transfer update on the young Brazilian star.
Endrick moved to Los Blancos in the summer of 2024 for a Brazilian record fee of €47.5 million but after a promising first season at the Bernabeu, he has seen his progress stall following the arrival of Xabi Alonso as head coach.
After he was relegated down the pecking order behind Castilla product Gonzalo Garcia in the FIFA Club World Cup, there was immediate speculation over the 19-year-old’s future. He has not played a competitive minute since, fuelling claims that he will leave the club.
Numerous sources have reported that Endrick could depart Real Madrid on loan in January, with The Mirror claiming that Manchester United are interest, while ESPN has reported that Marseille will make a move for the 19-year-old.
Now it has been revealed that there is a “clear frontrunner” in the race to sign the youngster.
Favourites to sign Endrick revealed
Real Sociedad are leading the way to sign Endrick in January, Caught Offside reports.
The Primera Division side have a strong working relationship with Real Madrid, which is reportedly giving them the edge in negotiations.
Previously, it had been reported that Los Blancos wanted the player to go on loan within Spain to help him gain experience in LaLiga.
La Real are toiling this season after selling Martin Zubimendi in the summer, and after nine games lie in the relegation zone with a feeble eight goals scored.
The expectation is clearly that Endrick would help them find the target more regularly and lift them away from relegation danger.
Man Utd concern
While United may want to sign Endrick, Real Madrid would surely have reservations over how much game time he would receive at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils, after all, spent lavishly on their attack in the summer, notably adding Benjamin Sesko to their ranks for €76.5m from RB Leipzig. Although he’s not caught on fire yet, United are far from discarding him.
Another No.9 option would, however, be welcome at Old Trafford, where 17-year-old Chido Obi is the most natural alternative to Sesko.
