Marc Guehi in 'SECRET meeting' as Liverpool told what deal hinges on
The agent of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi had a 'secret meeting' with Bayern Munich director Max Eberl this week, but Liverpool and Real Madrid remain firmly in the race as a move to Germany hinges on one key detail.
The England international remains the subject of intense transfer speculation after a move to reigning Premier League champions Liverpool collapsed at the 11th hour on Deadline Day.
Guehi's contract at Crystal Palace expires next summer, and head coach Oliver Glasner has confirmed that the defender has informed the club of his intention to pursue a new challenge in 2026.
The player's availability has alerted all of Europe's top clubs, particularly outside of England, as they will have the opportunity to negotiate a pre-contract with the 25-year-old in January.
This leaves Liverpool, who remain interested, at a significant disadvantage, although it has been suggested that Guehi may not make a decision on his next club until the summer, as he wants to fully focus on impressing at Crystal Palace in a bid to be a starter at the 2026 World Cup.
Guehi in secret meeting with Bayern
Bayern, too, have been heavily linked with Guehi over the past couple of weeks, and Sky Germany has confirmed the interest. What's more, it is reported that there was a 'secret meeting' between Guehi's agent Gordon Stipic and director Max Eberl this week.
The two discussed a potential transfer, but these were exploratory talks, and nothing has been decided. In fact, the report states that a move to Bayern will hinge on the departure of either Dayot Upamecano or Kim Min-jae.
Bayern are really keen to renew Upamecano's expiring contract, and Vincent Kompany's out-of-the-blue extension could apparently be helpful in convincing the Frenchman to stay. Links with Liverpool are being downplayed, with Upamecano reportedly hoping to join Real Madrid if he were to leave Munich.
Regarding Kim, the situation is less clear. Bayern have been open to offers for him for some time, but there is no guarantee that he will leave in 2026. This is good news for Liverpool in their pursuit of Guehi, but Real Madrid are also firmly in the race for the Three Lions star.
