Mikel Arteta given €115m transfer budget to win the Premier League
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is reportedly set to receive a transfer budget of €115 million (£100m) to spend in January as the club look to end their five-year trophy drought.
The Gunners haven’t won a major title since their triumph in the 2020 FA Cup final, but they are currently four points clear at the top of the Premier League table and they are among the favourites for this season’s Champions League.
The north London side spent a whopping €293.5 million on new signings over the summer, with Martin Zubimendi, Eberechi Eze, Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga all arriving at the Emirates Stadium. Meanwhile, their net spend of €283.2m this summer was the highest of any club in world football.
Despite this, the Arsenal hierarchy are ready to dip back into the market during the upcoming January transfer window.
That is according to renowned X account IndyKaila, who posted on social media: “Mikel Arteta has £100m to spend in January. The money is there for him.”
Who will Arsenal sign in January?
Following their activity over the summer, there are very few holes in Arsenal’s squad, although they have been linked with signing a new left winger in 2026 amid rumours that Leandro Trossard could depart the club.
Nico Williams, Rodrygo, Raphinha, Antoine Semenyo and Rafael Leao are all on their radar, but it remains to be seen if they will target a deal in January.
Meanwhile, Gabriel Jesus has been heavily linked with a move back to Brazil following the arrival of the aforementioned Gyokeres, and Arsenal could feasibly target a new striker to replace the 28-year-old if he opts to leave.
However, the Gunners’ current focus is to tie down their most important players to new long-term contracts. As a result, they are locked in talks with Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber over extended deals.
