Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has provided a positive injury update on star striker Victor Osimhen ahead of his side's massive Champions League clash with Liverpool.

The Istanbul giants are set to host the reigning Premier League champions on Tuesday in one of the most enticing games of the upcoming Champions League round.

Liverpool travel to the Bosphorus to take on the Super Lig winners, and both sides have a point to prove. The Anfield club's invincible league record was ended by Crystal Palace in dramatic fashion at the weekend.

Galatasaray, too, are keen to bounce back. They have won all of their domestic league fixtures, but they suffered a chastening 5-1 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt in their opening Champions League outing in Germany.

Star striker Victor Osimhen was absent from the game against the Eagles due to an ankle sprain. He also missed two Super Lig matches, but he returned to the pitch in a brief cameo against Alanyaspor at the weekend.

Will Osimhen play against Liverpool?

Given Osimhen's importance and his repeated links to Premier League clubs in the summer, his availability for the clash with Liverpool is not only of interest to Galatasaray fans.

According to head coach Okan Buruk, there is a good chance that the Nigerian superstar will feature against the Reds after 'positive' developments over the weekend.

"Today, we will see how he is in the last training session," Buruk said in his pre-match press conference. "Osimhen has continued training. It was positive for us that he played 10 minutes in the last game. We will look at his situation today and decide."

Fortunately for Galatasaray, veteran striker Mauro Icardi has stepped up big time in Osimhen's absence. Having recovered from his ACL injury, the Argentine has netted an impressive five goals in six league outings so far this term.

Many Galatasaray fans feel that they have one of the best frontlines in European football, and rightfully so. Liverpool, who have looked frail defensively, will have to be aware not only of Osimhen but also of the in-form Icardi.
