Bukayo Saka heaps praise on 'UNSTOPPABLE' Arsenal signing
Bukayo Saka has heaped praise on Arsenal summer signing Eberechi Eze following his performance against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
Eze, 27, has been mostly deployed as a left winger since his arrival from Crystal Palace for €69.3 million, however Mikel Arteta trusted him in an attacking midfield role at St James’ Park.
The England international was a constant threat against Eddie Howe’s side and team-mate Saka was keen to praise the 27-year-old after the match.
“Yeah I think he was unstoppable today at times, he was really good,” Saka told Stadium Astro when asked about Eze’s performance.
“I was just speaking to him now in the changing room, you know, that first chance – there’s not many keepers that will save that.
“That would have topped it off, but even without the goal today, he was really really good for us and he’s a really exciting signing and I’m happy to have him in our team.”
Eze is yet to score his first goal for Arsenal, however he has two Premier League assists to his name for the Gunners and club captain Martin Odegaard now faces an uphill battle to displace the Englishman in Arteta’s preferred starting XI.
Eze was one of eight players to join Arsenal during the 2025 summer transfer window, with the north London giants also completing the signings of Martin Zubimendi, Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Piero Hincapie during a hectic few weeks.
Arsenal deserved to beat Newcastle - Saka
Late goals from Mikel Merino and Gabriel Magalhaes secured a crucial 2-1 win for Arsenal on Sunday, and the win means they are now only two points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool after six matches.
Although Arsenal were forced to wait until the 96th minute to secure victory over Newcastle, Saka believes his side were deserving winners.
“Nick Pope was on fire today, it was quite clear,” the Englishman added. “But, I think the best team won today. I think we definitely deserved the win and we’re really delighted with it.”
