Chelsea are ready to ruin Real Madrid’s plans for Como star Nico Paz with an €80m offer for the Argentine playmaker.

Paz has been in eye-catching form since moving to Cesc Fabregas’ side little over a year ago, with three goals and three assists to his name already this season in just five Serie A matches.

After a similarly impressive return last term, he had been earmarked for a return to Real Madrid, but Chelsea are eager to hijack that deal, according to CaughtOffside.

As things stand, the Spanish side are in control of Nico Paz’s future. They have a triple lock on the player that will somehow need to be broken if Chelsea are to complete what would be a blockbuster deal worth in the region of €80 million.

Real Madrid have matching rights for the 21-year-old after allowing him to join Como in 2024 for €6m. What this means is that if the Italians accept a bid for him, Los Blancos will automatically have an identical bid accepted. On top of this, they have a 50% sell-on clause, but crucially they have a buy-back clause in 2026 for just €10m.

In short: the Spaniards appear in full control of the player, who has been dubbed their ‘next Galactico’.

CaughtOffside claims, however, that should Nico Paz sign a new deal with the Italian club, this would “remove the buy-back clause” and allow them to generate more money for the player. Such a scenario would also open the door for Chelsea to make a move.

A source claims: “Chelsea love Nico, Chelsea will push for sure. Real Madrid are confident, but Como will try to negotiate a new contract for him to remove the buy-back clause. They believe they could then sell him for as much as €80m.”

Romano reveals Nico Paz’s future

Based on the information from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, this is a long shot. He has previously claimed that it is all but certain Nico Paz will be heading back to Real Madrid.

Romano says the relationship between Real Madrid and Como is very strong, with the Spaniards prepared to go above and beyond their contractually stated terms in a deal to bring Nico Paz back.

“They will find a way to compensate Como, who lost the money of the transfer to Tottenham,” he claims.

“They will not only get €10m. It will be more than this for Paz's transfer to Real Madrid. The expectation is for Paz to become a Real Madrid player. This should be in 2026, might be in 2027, in case they decide to change something.”

Chelsea face an almighty challenge to sign him, in other words.
