Caicedo has been a standout performer since his arrival at Stamford Bridge in 2023 and he has established himself as an integral member of Enzo Maresca’s starting XI during the Italian’s reign in west London.

The Ecuador international still has six years remaining on his current contract at Chelsea, however the Blues have been left stunned following news that Real Madrid are interested in finalising a deal for the midfielder next year.

Los Blancos boss Xabi Alonso is eager to sign midfield reinforcements in 2026 and TBR Football claim that Caicedo is one of the club’s primary targets, along with his Chelsea team-mate Enzo Fernandez.

Real Madrid have been monitoring Fernandez’s situation at Stamford Bridge for several months, however they have now added Caciedo to their transfer shortlist amid his immense recent form for the Blues.

That is according to transfer journalist Graeme Bailey, who told TBR Football: “Real are doing their due diligence on potential midfield options. They are constantly doing work on potential targets.

“Under Juni Calafat they have transformed their recruitment and their ability to make the right moves. The midfield department is something they are looking at.

“They are not worried but are concerned about their depth, and I am told that Fernandez and Caicedo are two players they love and are watching them regularly.”

Real Madrid line up Chelsea double deal

Although Real Madrid are interested in both Caicedo and Fernandez, Chelsea are highly unlikely to sanction sales next summer as the former still has six years remaining on his current deal, while the latter’s contract isn’t due to expire until 2032.

They both remain key members of the first-team squad at Stamford Bridge and Real Madrid would likely be forced to break their transfer record if they are serious about raiding Chelsea next year.

If Los Blancos are unable to sign Caicedo or Fernandez in 2026, TBR Football claim they could pursue a move for either Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) or Joao Neves (Paris Saint-Germain).
