Chelsea ready to sell Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid
Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Enzo Fernandez to Real Madrid next summer.
The Argentina international, 24, has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu over the past year and Enzo Maresca’s side are now willing to discuss a sale if they receive a suitable offer.
That is according to a bombshell report from TEAMtalk, who claim that a deal could take place in 2026 if Real Madrid are “truly willing to stump up some serious cash.”
Chelsea paid a club-record fee of €121 million to sign Fernandez from Benfica in January 2023 and Los Blancos would be required to eclipse this figure if they want to bring the 24-year-old to the Spanish capital next summer.
Multiple reports have suggested that Fernandez has been identified as Xabi Alonso’s dream midfield target, and Real Madrid are expected to pursue a deal following the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.
Los Blancos already have a plethora of midfield options at their disposal, including Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga, but they are eager to add Fernandez to their ranks, as confirmed by TEAMtalk.
Fernandez still has seven years remaining on his current contract at Stamford Bridge and although Chelsea are open to a sale for the correct price, the Blues aren’t actively looking to offload him.
Chelsea would be required to sign a replacement for Fernandez if he departs for Real Madrid next year, with Juventus star Manuel Locatelli the latest midfielder to be linked with a move to the west London giants.
Chelsea to sell Enzo Fernandez?
Although Chelsea are reportedly open to selling Fernandez, an exit still seems incredibly unlikely given his contract doesn’t expire until 2032.
Furthermore, he remains an integral member of Maresca’s favoured starting XI and he is Chelsea’s de facto club captain whenever Reece James is absent.
However, Real Madrid are clearly interested in completing a deal and selling Vinicius Junior to Saudi Arabia could feasibly fund a move for the Chelsea superstar.
