The 2025 summer transfer window is officially over and clubs in Europe’s top five leagues will now be forced to wait until January before adding additional reinforcements to their squad.

Deadline Day was extremely busy as clubs scrambled to finalise their business and a number of major deals therefore slipped under the radar.

Below, FootballTransfers runs through five Deadline Day transfers you might have missed.

Ben Chilwell - Chelsea to Strasbourg (Undisclosed)

Ben Chilwell completed a permanent transfer from one BlueCo-owned team to another during the final hours of Deadline Day after spending the entire summer in Chelsea’s ‘Bomb Squad.’

The Englishman was cast aside upon Enzo Maresca’s appointment last year and after failing to secure a transfer during the 2024 summer window, he joined Crystal Palace on loan in January.

But, Chilwell was unable to usurp Tyrick Mitchell as the first-choice left wing-back under Oliver Glasner and there was subsequently very little interest in his services this summer.

As a result, Chelsea were forced to sell him to their sister club in order to get his wages off their books.

Jamie Vardy - Leicester to Cremonese (Free Transfer)

Jamie Vardy left Leicester City as a free agent in July after an immensely successful 13-year spell at the club.

The ex-England international scored 200 goals in 500 appearances for the Foxes and he played an integral role in their shock Premier League triumph back in 2016.

He departed the club upon the expiration of his contract at the end of June and multiple clubs in the United Kingdom were interested in a deal, including both Celtic and Rangers.

However, Serie A side Cremonese emerged as shock contenders to sign Vardy in August and he completed a Bosman move to the Italian minnows on Transfer Deadline Day.

Oleksandr Zinchenko - Arsenal to Nottingham Forest (Loan)

Nottingham Forest saw a late move to Atletico Madrid defender Javi Galan collapse on Deadline Day and they quickly responded by signing Oleksandr Zinchenko on loan from Arsenal.

The Ukraine international only started five Premier League matches for Mikel Arteta’s side last season and he fell even further down the pecking order this summer following the arrival of Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero Hincapie.

Zinchenko was linked with several clubs across Europe throughout the summer transfer window, however Forest were the surprise winners of his signature on Deadline Day.

He will compete with Neco Williams for a starting berth at left-back under Nuno Espirito Santo, while he may also provide cover in central midfield.

Alexis Sanchez - Udinese to Sevilla (Free Transfer)

Former Arsenal and Barcelona superstar Alexis Sanchez completed a free transfer move to Udinese to Sevilla during the dying embers of Deadline Day.

He has officially returned to La Liga 11 years after he departed Barcelona for Arsenal, and he could make his Sevilla debut against Elche after the September international break.

Sanchez has signed a one-year contract at Sevilla and will bolster the forward options available to Matias Almeyda.

However, the Chile legend, who is now 35 years old, was plagued by a calf injury last season and he failed to score in 14 appearances for Udinese in 2024-25.

Tariq Lamptey - Brighton to Fiorentina (€6m)

Tariq Lamptey has officially departed Brighton & Hove Albion after a five-and-a-half year spell at the AMEX Stadium.

The Ghana international joined the Seagulls from Chelsea in January 2020, but his time at the club was hampered by injury issues and he was unable to build on an impressive string of performances during his first half-season.

In fact, Lamptey failed to accumulate more than 900 minutes in three of his four full Premier League seasons, with the exception of the 2021-22 campaign.

However, he has been handed the chance of a fresh start after completing a €6m transfer to Serie A side Fiorentina
