Arsenal will not sell Gabriel Martinelli before Transfer Deadline Day unless they are able to sign a suitable replacement, FootballTransfers has been told.

The Brazil international has been tipped to leave Mikel Arteta’s side for several weeks and it has been reported that Galatasaray are in talks over a possible deal to bring the 25-year-old to Istanbul.

However, FootballTransfers understands there is currently nothing concrete behind rumours suggesting Martinelli could join Galatasaray this summer, with Arsenal unwilling to sanction a sale unless they finalise a deal for another new left winger.

The Gunners have already signed Club Brugge forward Christos Tzolis as a replacement for Leandro Trossard so far this summer, and they would only allow Martinelli to leave if they are able to bring in a successor.

Arsenal wanted to sign Vinicius Junior before he decided to agree a new contract at Real Madrid, while they were interested in Morgan Rogers before his switch to Chelsea. Meanwhile, the north London giants are admirers of Bradley Barcola, but they are unwilling to match Paris Saint-Germain’s hefty asking price of €170 million.

Galatasaray have reportedly submitted an offer worth €45m for Martinelli, however FootballTransfers has been told that a deal will rely entirely on whether Arsenal can sign a replacement.

Furthermore, we understand that it’s highly unlikely that Arsenal would accept a sale for €45m, especially given the fees paid for other forwards so far this summer, including Anthony Gordon, who joined Barcelona in a deal worth up to €80m.

Will Gabriel Martinelli leave Arsenal?

Martinelli has just one year remaining on his current contract at the Emirates Stadium, although Arsenal have the option to extend his deal by a further 12 months if they wish.

If the Brazilian does leave Arsenal this summer, he will become the club’s most expensive sale in history, eclipsing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who joined Liverpool for €38m in 2017. However, Arsenal will not sell him unless they have lined up a replacement.

Martinelli, who joined Arsenal from Brazilian side Itauno for €7.1m in 2019, has scored 62 goals in 278 games for the club, including 11 across all competitions last season.

In addition to the aforementioned Tzolis, Arsenal have also signed Bruno Guimaraes, Piero Hincapie and Illan Meslier so far this summer, while they have sold Trossard, Jakub Kiwior, Christian Norgaard and Karl Hein.
