Newcastle are firmly in the race to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, according to a report.

The Serbia international has become a hugely divisive figure in Turin since his highly anticipated €83.5 million arrival in January 2022. Vlahovic is the best-paid player in Serie A, but he has only rarely been able to live up to his price tag.

Ironically, he is enjoying one of the best goal-scoring runs of his career at a time when his stint at Juventus is pretty much over. His contract expires next year and, despite his red-hot form, he is unlikely to be handed an extension due to his unwillingness to lower his salary.

The 25-year-old has scored four goals in 198 minutes of football so far this term, primarily featuring as a substitute under new Bianconeri boss Igor Tudor. To say that he is putting himself in the shop window with this form would be an understatement.

Vlahovic was already offered to various European giants in the summer, but no move materialised for various reasons. Some had concerns about his form and wage demands, while others were rejected by Vlahovic himself.

Newcastle back in for Vlahovic

One of the clubs that explored a move for the striker in the summer were Newcastle, who were desperately scrambling for attacking reinforcements right up until the deadline.

No deal was struck, but TEAMtalk claims that the Magpies are still keeping tabs on Vlahovic and that they have, unsurprisingly, liked what they have seen from him so far this term.

The St. James' Park club signed Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa in the summer, but neither is really a traditional No.9. That's why Newcastle could again dip into the market for a forward in 2026.

Despite Vlahovic's form, Juventus would surely jump at the chance to offload him for a fee in January. However, Newcastle - and other suitors - could opt to wait until the summer to get him on a free.

As for the player, he is said to be keen to test himself in the Premier League and may be willing to make a move to the Northeast. The question of his future is 'entering a decisive phase,' the report states.
