Man Utd prepare €80m bid for Amorim's dream signing
Manchester United are preparing an €80 million offer for Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde, according to a bombshell report from Spain.
Valverde, 27, has been speculatively linked with a shock move to Old Trafford for several months, and Ruben Amorim’s side now appear willing to intensify their pursuit ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
The Uruguay international has established himself as one of the world’s best midfielders since arriving at Real Madrid from Penarol in 2016 and Man Utd have earmarked him as a primary transfer target as they look to bolster the options available to Amorim.
That is according to a report from Fichajes, who even claim that Man Utd are ready to submit an €80m bid for the 27-year-old in January.
The Red Devils reportedly view him as the ideal candidate to improve their midfield roster and they could potentially include Kobbie Mainoo in the deal in order to reduce the financial outlay that would be required to land him.
However, Valverde still has x years remaining on his current contract at Real Madrid and Los Blancos appear highly unlikely to sanction a sale considering he still remains an integral member of Xabi Alonso’s first-team squad.
Real Madrid to sign a new midfielder?
If Man Utd are successful in their pursuit of Valverde, Real Madrid will likely reinvest the transfer fee into signing a suitable replacement.
Chelsea duo Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo have both speculatively been linked with an Old Trafford switch in recent days, while Los Blancos could rekindle their interest in Stuttgart star Angelo Stiller following a failed pursuit over the summer.
Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) and Joao Neves (Paris Saint-Germain) are also on Real Madrid’s radar and they are expected to bring a new midfielder to the club in 2026 regardless of whether or not Valverde departs.
