Man Utd plot NEW Carlos Baleba bid after summer failure
Manchester United are reportedly prepared to pay €150 million to sign Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba next year.
Ruben Amorim’s side were determined to land the Cameroon international this summer, however they were unable to match Brighton’s asking price and the proposed transfer failed to materialise.
Baleba was identified as a key transfer target by Man Utd amid their desire to strengthen the midfield depth at Old Trafford, and the Red Devils are set to rekindle their interest in his services in 2026.
In fact, Spanish outlet Fichajes claim that he remains a transfer “priority”, and Man Utd are determined to submit a proposal that could reach €150m - a fee that would make Baleba the most expensive player in Premier League history.
Brighton are eager to resist any offers for the 21-year-old, but Man Utd are eager to lodge an eye-watering bid in order to beat Bayern Munich and Real Madrid to his signature next summer.
The Red Devils believe that Baleba is the perfect player to guide them back towards the top of the Premier League pecking order and they are reportedly eager to test Brighton’s resolve with a €150m proposal.
Man Utd to sign Carlos Baleba?
Baleba has racked up 81 senior appearances for Brighton since his arrival at the club in 2023, and he is expected to be Man Utd’s primary transfer target next year after their recent additions of Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
The Red Devils are also monitoring the possibility of signing Adam Wharton, Lucien Agoume or Morten Hjulmand, with a new central midfielder high on their transfer wish-list.
Meanwhile, the future of Kobbie Mainoo is expected to remain a hot topic until a concrete decision on his contract situation is made, with the Englishman’s current deal due to expire in 2027.
The 20-year-old was eager to leave Man Utd on loan during the summer transfer window and a permanent exit could potentially be on the cards next year if he refuses to sign fresh terms at Old Trafford.
