Nicolas Jackson sent brutal warning after Chelsea exit
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has been warned that Bayern Munich will refuse to select him if he reaches 39 appearances this season.
The Senegal international completed a season-long loan move to the Allianz Arena on Transfer Deadline Day, but Bayern chief Uli Hoeness has confirmed that the obligation-to-buy clause included in the deal will only be activated if he plays 40 matches for the club this year.
Jackson will face immense competition from Harry Kane for a starting berth under Vincent Kompany and Hoeness has ruled out the possibility of signing the Chelsea outcast on a permanent basis next summer.
Following Hoeness’ comments, former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has fired a warning to Jackson over his potential game time.
“He knows that 40 games is going to be hard to be made,” Leboeuf told ESPN. “At the end of the day, you still have some hopes that at some point you will have a chance - and if you are good - you know that maybe the coin will flip and it’s going to be better.
“But now you already know that if you reach 39 games you’re not going to play any more.”
What has Nicolas Jackson said about Chelsea transfer
Jackson started 31 games across all competitions for Chelsea last season, scoring 13 goals, however he fell down the pecking order following the summer arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, and the Blues opted to sanction a departure to Bayern.
When asked about his move away from Stamford Bridge, Jackson recently admitted to Italian publication Tuttosport (via The Mirror): “[There were] very strong emotions, but not for the reasons you might think.”
“I was simply very happy to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the world, to discover another league and other great players.
“At the same time, I was a little sad to leave Chelsea, my teammates, and the fans. I experienced so many strong emotions there: we won the Conference League and the Club World Cup.
“Now I’m 100% focused on my new project and I can’t wait to experience the incredible atmosphere at the Allianz Arena.”
