Chelsea are reportedly “monitoring every move made” by Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda ahead of his move to Stamford Bridge next summer.

Enzo Maresca’s side have reached a full agreement to sign the 18-year-old for a transfer fee of €50.8 million in 2026 and he will arrive at the club following the conclusion of the current campaign.

Quenda was widely tipped to reunite with former Sporting CP head coach Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, however Chelsea hijacked the deal earlier this year and he will provide additional attacking depth for the west London giants once he formally completes his transfer.

The Portugal U21 international was a key player during Amorim’s final few months at Sporting, but he has struggled for consistent game time under new boss Rui Borges and he is yet to start a single match so far this season.

Quenda has featured as a substitute in all five of Sporting’s games this campaign and Chelsea have now decided to keep a close eye on the 18-year-old.

That is according to Portuguese outlet Record (via Sport Witness), who claim that Chelsea are “monitoring every move made” by the teenager as they want to be “fully aware of his physical condition” before he officially joins the club next summer.

Maresca’s side are even reportedly collecting reports on every match and training session that Quenda completes in order to have a greater understanding of the player.

Geovany Quenda to join Chelsea

Quenda racked up a whopping 3,663 minutes of action across all competitions last season, however that number stands at just 135 so far this campaign, with Geny Catamo currently favoured ahead of him.

However, Chelsea will be unable to bring Quenda to the club before next summer as they agreed to purchase him in 2026, meaning they are powerless when it comes to increasing his game time.

Quenda registered 11 goal contributions in 54 appearances last season and he is set to compete for a starting berth as either a right or left winger once he arrives at Chelsea.
