OFFICIAL: Chelsea complete 53rd transfer of the summer
Chelsea wonderkid Kiano Dyer has officially signed a new long-term contract at the club and he will spend the 2025-26 season on loan at Eredivisie side Volendam.
The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the top prospects in Chelsea’s famed academy, but there were serious concerns that he could push to leave the club amid the lack of a clear pathway to regular first-team opportunities.
However, Dyer has penned fresh terms at Stamford Bridge and his new deal is set to run until 2030, as officially confirmed by the west London giants.
Dyer racked up 29 appearances for Chelsea’s U21 side last season, scoring three goals, while he made his senior debut for the Blues during their 3-1 away win over Astana in the Europa Conference League back in December.
The teenager, who joined Chelsea from West Bromwich Albion at the end of his U14 season, will provide technical quality in midfield for newly-promoted Volendam, although the step up to first-team football will challenge him physically, given he stands at just 5ft 8in tall.
Chelsea complete 53rd transfer of the summer
Dyer has become the 53rd player to either join or leave Chelsea during the 2025 summer transfer window, with the club sanctioning a mass turnover of stars in a bid to perfect the squad available to Maresca.
A total of 14 players have arrived at Stamford Bridge since the window opened on 1 June, while 39 stars have departed on loan or permanently.
Joao Pedro and Alejandro Garnacho are among the eye-catching additions to have arrived in west London, although the club were forced to prioritise player sales due to a fine for financial breaches and a UEFA ban warning that threatened their ability to register summer signings for the Champions League.
As a result, a plethora of players have been offloaded on permanent deals, including the likes of Noni Madueke, Joao Felix and Carney Chukwuemeka.
Raheem Sterling, Axel Disasi and David Datro Fofana are the final three players who could join the list if they are able to secure a last-minute transfer to a club in Turkey, Belgium or Saudi Arabia.
