Emegha arrival to END the Chelsea career of €82m star - Romano
The arrival of Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha will officially spell the end of Nicolas Jackson's Chelsea career, even if Bayern Munich do not make his loan permanent, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Last week, the Blues officially confirmed that they have completed the signing of Emegha from sister club Strasbourg for 2026. This deal had been in the works for a couple of months, but it still came as a shock to the supporters of the Ligue 1 club.
Strasbourg's fanbase is torn on BlueCo's involvement with the French side, and a vocal section of supporters has repeatedly protested against their proud club becoming the farm team of Chelsea.
Emegha's move sparked a new wave of protests as the Dutchman was only recently named club captain. He was branded a 'BlueCo pawn' during Sunday's clash with Le Havre, which is said to have left him 'devastated.'
Chelsea are planning for Emegha to become an integral part of their first team next year, and his arrival will be the final nail in the coffin of Nicolas Jackson's career at Stamford Bridge, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Emegha to replace Jackson
The Senegal international joined Bayern on loan in the summer after being deemed surplus to requirements, but there is no guarantee that his stay in Munich will be made permanent.
Bayern agreed to pay an €81.5 million package for Jackson, consisting of a €16.5m loan fee and a €65m purchase option. The latter will become an obligation if he makes 40 starts this season, which honorary president Uli Hoeness recently described as impossible.
Even if Jackson were to return to Chelsea next year, there is no way he would be reintegrated into the squad due to the presence of Emegha, according to Romano.
"The consequence can be especially for Nico Jackson," Romano said on his Here We Go podcast. "The feeling internally at Chelsea is that Emegha has that potential that they want to trust for the future.
"He is a similar player with different skills, a similar profile to Jackson... I think this move of Emegha to Chelsea is probably closing all the doors for a Chelsea return in the future for Jackson."
