CONFIRMED: Perfect Chelsea signing given €80m price tag
Eintracht Frankfurt have slapped an initial price tag of €80 million on in-form wonderkid Can Uzun, according to German media.
The Turkey international has enjoyed a spectacular start to the season. Having spent his first year as an understudy to Omar Marmoush and Hugo Ekitike, the 19-year-old has now become the heartbeat of Frankfurt's attack, and he is thriving.
Uzun netted yet another goal mid-week in a 5-1 Champions League demolition of Galatasaray by rifling the ball into the roof of the net after a smooth turn in the box. It took his tally for this nascent season to four goals and three assists in five appearances.
The versatile attacker is making waves in Germany and is set to become the next player turned into a heap of cash by savvy Frankfurt director Markus Krosche. FootballTransfers explained earlier this week that Uzun would be a perfect signing for Chelsea.
The Blues have been exploring moves for Fermin Lopez and Kenan Yildiz in recent months, but both look poised for long-term futures at Barcelona and Juventus, respectively, potentially making Uzun a much more attainable alternative.
Uzun given hefty price tag
BILD reports that Frankfurt are already bracing for high-profile interest in Uzun in 2026 and are planning accordingly. It is claimed that a first tentative price tag of €80 million has been slapped on the teenager.
At this point, this is the going rate for Frankfurt's most prized possessions. Marmoush cost €75m in January, Ekitike fetched €95m this summer, midfielder Hugo Larssen would have cost at least €80m had he departed.
Uzun's price tag is only bound to increase if he keeps performing at his current level. According to head coach Dino Toppmoller, the youngster already has no shortage of suitors.
"I'm sure he is very, very interesting to one or two teams that have already had their eye on him," he said. "But we will keep this boy here for now, and he will bring us a lot of joy. He knows that football sometimes means working hard. He is on a really good trajectory at the moment."
