Chelsea forward Alejandro Garnacho recently made contact with Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni after falling out of favour during his final months at Manchester United.

The 21-year-old completed a late-window move to Chelsea in the summer, joining the Blues from Man Utd for €46.2 million. Garnacho was effectively pushed out of Old Trafford after falling out with head coach Ruben Amorim.

The youngster has so far made two cameo appearances for Chelsea, but he did not manage to get off the bench in the Blues' bizarre 2-1 loss to his former club at the weekend.

Garnacho struggled to have much of an impact in his final months in Manchester, and this saw him not only lose his place at Man Utd but also in the Argentinian national team.

The exciting winger has not played for his country since last November, and he is unlikely to be in contention for October's squad unless he manages to explode in the next four games.

Garnacho seeks Argentina clarity

According to DSports, Garnacho contacted Albiceleste head coach Lionel Scaloni recently to seek clarity on his standing in the team. The 21-year-old naturally has ambitions of playing a part in next year's World Cup.

The report claims that Scaloni was honest with Garnacho and bluntly told him that he needs to get back to the top of his game if he wants to return to the Argentina squad.

He has fallen down the pecking order since last year, and he will have to impress at Chelsea before Scaloni will give him another chance of playing for arguably the strongest national team in the world.

Garnacho is keen to relaunch his career at Stamford Bridge to play his way into World Cup contention. He is expected to be given a chance to kickstart his Blues stint against League One side Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday evening.
