Transfer Rumours: Chelsea get serious over JJ Gabriel as double exit bomb drops in Manchester
FootballTransfers runs through the biggest rumours and gossip from 16 September, including the latest updates on JJ Gabriel, Erling Haaland and Morgan Gibbs-White.
Chelsea step up Gabriel pursuit
Chelsea are among the clubs with a serious interest in wantaway Man Utd wonderkid JJ Gabriel, talkSPORT reports.
The outlet already reported last month that the Blues were monitoring the 15-year-old's situation amid "whispers" that he was growing unhappy at Man Utd. On Tuesday, news broke that Gabriel had chosen the nuclear option and officially requested to leave the Red Devils.
Frustrated with his first-team pathway, the "Kid Messi" handed in a formal notice asking Man Utd to cancel his registration, which would see him become a free agent. Ben Jacobs reports that Gabriel has "another Premier League club in mind."
However, Fabrizio Romano has hinted that his future may lie in Spain, with Barcelona and Real Madrid long-standing admirers. Man Utd, for their part, hope that they can still convince him to stay.
Haaland deal possible?
Barcelona and Real Madrid believe that there is a deal to be done for Man City striker Erling Haaland in the future, TEAMtalk claims.
Contrary to reports from Spain, sources at the Etihad are adamant that Haaland no longer has a release clause, but his LaLiga suitors nevertheless believe that there is a way to get him out of his nine-year contract.
Haaland is understood to harbour long-term ambitions of moving to Spain, and there is an "understanding" between the Norwegian and Man City that the club would evaluate the situation were he to request an exit.
"Huge" Gibbs-White offer
The same outlet also asserts that Tottenham are ready to return with a "huge offer" for Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White.
Spurs attempted to sign the playmaker in 2025 by triggering a release clause, but the manner in which they went about it prompted Forest to threaten legal action. Gibbs-White ultimately stayed put and signed a new contract.
However, Tottenham's interest remains. They are ready to revisit the deal next year and test Forest's resolve with a sizeable offer, although the latter's stance that Gibbs-White isn't for sale has not changed.
Ngumoha not for sale
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are not considering selling Rio Ngumoha.
The 18-year-old winger has been linked with a potential move to Arsenal in 2027 in recent days, following reports this summer that Bayern had attempted to sign him and even reached an agreement on personal terms.
However, Liverpool's stance at the time was that he was not for sale, and this has not changed. In fact, they are "discussing" a new contract with Ngumoha in order to tie him to the club long-term.
BlueCo eye another Sevilla talent
Chelsea owners BlueCo are keeping a close eye on Sevilla youngster Nico Guillen, Ficherio writes.
BlueCo club Strasbourg already signed left-back Oso from the Andalusian outfit this summer, and the 23-year-old has made a strong impression in Alsace, prompting interest in more Sevilla prospects.
Guillen has caught the eye of scouts, with the 18-year-old having already made a start in LaLiga for the senior team this season, although he primarily features for the reserves. The midfielder is a Spain U19 international.
