Max Dowman breaks major record despite Man City exclusion
Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman became the club’s youngest ever goalscorer in Premier League 2 history by netting a stunning solo goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
The 15-year-old, who has already made two senior appearances for the Gunners so far this season, was excluded from Mikel Arteta’s squad to face Manchester City and he instead featured for Arsenal’s U21 side over the weekend.
Dowman was handed his first ever Premier League 2 start in a central midfield role and he made history when he netted a 65th minute equaliser with a fantastic solo strike.
The teenager received possession inside the Wolves penalty area and after shifting the ball to his right, he chopped back onto his left foot and finished past Lewys Benjamin to level up proceedings.
In the process, Dowman became the youngest Arsenal player to ever score a Premier League 2 goal at just 15 years and 263 days old. The record was previously held by winger Reiss Nelson - who scored at the age of 16 years and 57 days back in 2016.
Arsenal eventually secured a 3-2 victory over Wolves thanks to a 99th minute penalty from Andre Harriman-Annous, and they are now in 10th place in the Premier League 2 table, having picked up seven points from their opening four fixtures.

Max Dowman sets new Arsenal record
Although Dowman is now Arsenal’s youngest ever Premier League 2 goalscorer, he is only third on the list when including all players.
Leicester City wonderkid Jeremy Monga currently holds that record thanks to his goal versus Aston Villa aged just 15 years, three months and 22 days old.
The England youth international is now a regular in Leicester’s first-team and he is also the youngest goalscorer in Championship history after netting against Preston North End in August.
