Ange Postecoglou is wasting no time getting settled at Nottingham Forest and is already eyeing up a group of Tottenham Hotspur stars worth €130 million to join him at the City Ground.

Postecoglou was appointed as Forest boss on Tuesday after leaving Spurs in the summer despite leading the North London side to Europa League glory.

Injuries played their part in the Australian’s struggles at his former club and he is now seeking to use Evangelos Marinakis’ ambition in the transfer market to lure a quartet of his former players north, according to the Daily Express.

In particular, Forest’s defence appears to be of concern to Postecoglou, who could raid his former side for three players in this area of the park.

Destiny Udogie is the most expensive player on his shopping list, with the Italian left-back coming in with an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €54.4m. Other players who could be targeted include Romania international centre-back Radu Dragusin and veteran Wales defender Ben Davies, who would be considerably cheaper.

At the other end of the park, Postecoglou is notably a fan of Mathys Tel, who completed a €35m switch from Bayern Munich this summer. The early indications are that the young Frenchman’s opportunities will be limited under Thomas Frank. He has made just three brief substitute appearances for Spurs this season but did net twice for France U21 in a 3-0 win over Serbia on Tuesday.

Tel has an ETV of €50m but signs are that he could be picked up for less than that in a deal that Forest and Postecoglou might both welcome.

Steve Cooper’s new job confirmed

Former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper has officially been unveiled as manager of Danish Superliga side Brondby.

“Steve is that rare combination of youth and experience, vision and personality. He is a man who can embrace a club like ours and lift both the individual player and the entire club to a new level,” Brondby sporting director Benjamin Schmedes said in a statement.

“His work with young players and some of the greatest talents in the world is eye-catching and another reason why he is now head coach of Brondby IF.”

Cooper has signed a three-year deal with the Danes.
