Newcastle are targeting Nicolas Jackson, Yoane Wissa and Malick Thiaw to salvage their horror transfer window.

The Magpies have had an absolute nightmare this summer. Newcastle were supposed to strengthen ahead of their return to the Champions League, and they had money to spend after several frugal windows.

However, they have had to find out the hard way that their ambitious project does not yet have the same clout as established English and European giants, which has seen them miss out on a host of top targets.

Newcastle are still in with a shout of signing Benjamin Sesko, but the Slovenian appears to be favouring a move to Man Utd after they made a formal offer for him earlier on Tuesday.

The situation with Alexander Isak only adds insult to injury. The Swede is pushing to get out, essentially leaving Newcastle with someone who does not want to be there and the still-raw William Osula as their only striker options.

Newcastle's remaining targets

It remains to be seen if Eddie Howe can convince Isak to stay for one more season or if the Magpies get the green light from Sesko. Regardless of the outcome of these two sagas, contingency plans are being put in place to salvage this rotten window.

FootballTransfers exclusively revealed on Monday that Newcastle are lining up an approach for PSG striker Goncalo Ramos, but the Portugal international isn't their only forward target.

Yoane Wissa remains an option for the St. James' Park club, and the Brentford attacker is pushing for the move. However, the Bees first want to line up a replacement.

According to Ben Jacobs, Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is also a concrete option, and exploratory talks with the Blues have already taken place. It comes after David Ornstein reported that the Senegal international is 'increasingly likely' to be on the move this summer.

Newcastle also want to bolster their defensive options as Sven Botman is their only senior centre-back not on the wrong side of 30. Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the Magpies have reignited their pursuit of AC Milan star Malick Thiaw and are set to open formal talks shortly.
