Man Utd can dream of HUGE Greenwood windfall as €100m deal eyed
Marseille have slapped a whopping €100 million price tag on Mason Greenwood amid interest from Al-Nassr, according to a report.
The former Man Utd forward has been the subject of speculation for months after falling out of favour under Roberto de Zerbi. Though he eventually clawed his way back into the team, Greenwood has been linked with an exit ever since.
Despite whatever reservations De Zerbi might have, Marseille know that they have a valuable asset on their hands. Greenwood has managed to revive his career after seeing his rape and assault charges dropped, and he finished the previous Ligue 1 season as joint-top scorer.
Marseille are therefore in no rush to offload the one-time England international. In fact, according to Ben Jacobs, the French giants insist that Greenwood is not for sale at all.
However, there is an acceptance that this stance could be tested with an extraordinary bid. Everyone has a price in football, and Greenwood is reportedly valued at €100 million.
Al-Nassr want Greenwood
This absurd price tag is informed by the fact that Man Utd would be owed 50 per cent of his fee. Given that Marseille paid a sizeable €26m for Greenwood last year, very little would be left in the way of actual profit even if he were to move for €100m.
No European club is paying that for Greenwood, but Man Utd can still dream of a hefty windfall as Al-Nassr are now chasing a deal for the attacker.
Cristiano Ronaldo and company want to bolster their attacking ranks after the failed €77m Jhon Duran experiment, and Greenwood is the latest name being explored after Red Devils captain Bruno Fernandes rejected a move to Riyadh.
It remains to be seen if Al-Nassr would be willing to cough up €100m for Greenwood. Jacobs adds that even if they were, there would be no guarantee of Marseille actually accepting the offer due to their clear not-for-sale stance.
