Fabrizio Romano confirms Man Utd transfer TRUTH as Amorim eyes last-minute deal
Football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Manchester United will not sign Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller on Transfer Deadline Day.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move throughout the summer transfer window following a stellar 2024-25 campaign, but he is now expected to remain at Stuttgart until at least next year.
That is according to the aforementioned Romano, who posted on X: “Angelo Stiller, expected to stay at Stuttgart this summer as there are zero negotiations underway now.”
It comes after Sky Sports reporter Sacha Tavolieri revealed that Stiller was on the verge of completing a bombshell move to Man Utd.
“EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United delegation currently in Stuttgart in order to complete Angelo Stiller,” Tavolieri stated on X in a now-deleted post. “Talks are now advanced with the German midfielder who’s expecting a deal to be done. More to follow.”
However, Stiller looks set to remain at Stuttgart, as per Romano, with Man Utd seemingly expected to miss out on a central midfielder.
Man Utd unlikely to sign a new midfielder
Man Utd have been eager to bolster Ruben Amorim’s options in the middle of the park since the beginning of the summer window, however they failed in their pursuit of Brighton & Hove Albion’s Carlos Baleba, while proposed moves for Morten Hjulmand, Adam Wharton and Lucien Agoume also didn’t materialise.
Man Utd have managed to retain Kobbie Mainoo, however, with the England star now set to remain at the club, despite his desire to secure a loan move away after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Although the Red Devils are unlikely to sign a new midfielder before the end of Deadline Day, they are expected to land a goalkeeper and they have agreed personal terms with Emiliano Martinez ahead of a potential late move for the Aston Villa superstar.
