Man Utd receive OFFICIAL Carlos Baleba transfer message
Brighton & Hove Albion boss Fabian Hurzeler has issued a strong message to Manchester United regarding their summer pursuit of Carlos Baleba.
The Cameroon international has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past few weeks, although Man Utd have reportedly ended their interest in his signature due to his price tag.
Brighton are demanding a transfer fee in excess of €116 million (£100m) for the 21-year-old and Man Utd have therefore opted to pause their pursuit until 2026.
Baleba has started both of Brighton’s two Premier League fixtures so far this season and despite the fact he is “open” to joining Man Utd, he is yet to submit a formal transfer request or push to complete a transfer.
As a result, he is expected to remain at the AMEX Stadium until at least next summer. This has now been confirmed by Hurzeler.
Carlos Baleba won’t join Man Utd
During his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Hurzeler was asked if he’s confident that Baleba will still be a Brighton player once the summer transfer window closes at 19:00 BST on 1 September.
“Yes,” he replied. “If there is a number more than 100%, I would say more than 100, so fantastically confident.”
Baleba has racked up 80 senior appearances for Brighton since his arrival from Lille in 2023 and his current contract with the Seagulls isn’t due to expire until 2028.
With the Cameroon midfielder extremely unlikely to arrive before the end of Transfer Deadline Day, Man Utd have been forced to scout possible alternatives.
The Red Devils have been linked with the likes of Lucien Agoume, Adam Wharton and Morten Hjulmand in recent days, and a new midfielder could be set to arrive at Old Trafford, with Kobbie Mainoo eager to leave the club on loan for the duration of the 2025-26 season.
The England star is yet to feature in the Premier League this term and he has informed the Red Devils of his desire to secure a temporary transfer before the summer transfer window closes on Monday.
