Man Utd line up SHOCK rival transfer to solve major Amorim problem
Manchester United could be prepared to make a shock sale to a Premier League rival this summer in order to continue strengthening their squad before the end of the month.
United have spent over €200 million on forwards Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko but Ruben Amorim is still desperate to add quality across the other areas of the pitch too.
The summer spending has depleted the entirety of Amorim’s budget and United are now dependent on sales if they wish to make more signings – something which has proven hard to come by despite a number of players being available for transfer.
Jadon Sancho has failed to agree moves to Roma among other sides this summer, while United have been disappointed by the proposals made for the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Antony despite both players having significant interest in them.
While all three players are expected to leave Old Trafford before the end of the window, United could be forced to consider other sales in order to ensure they have the necessary funds to make their ideal signings.
In particular, United are keen to strengthen in midfield and, with no interest materialising in Casemiro, Amorim may reluctantly look to cash in on a valuable talent to create space and budget for a replacement.
Tottenham ready to ‘take the bait’ to sign Kobbie Mainoo
According to GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham could emerge as strong contenders to sign Kobbie Mainoo should United look to take advantage of the 20-year-old’s value as a pure profit sale for their books.
Tottenham are considering all options after seeing James Maddison suffer an ACL injury and with the club also likely to miss out on Eberechi Eze, who is set to turn them down to join Arsenal from Crystal Palace.
The report claims that Spurs are ‘waiting to take the bait’ if United choose to sacrifice Mainoo in the final week of the window as they look to target a new midfielder.
United are open to Mainoo's departure after the England international rejected a new contract earlier this year, particularly with ambitions of signing Adam Wharton as a replacement or making a move for a goalkeeper such as Gianluigi Donnarumma.
