Fabrizio Romano confirms Chelsea's OFFICIAL plan for shock new signing
Chelsea owners BlueCo have officially secured a deal for Brighton & Hove Albion forward Julio Enciso, who will join Strasbourg for a reported fee of €20 million this summer.
The Paraguay international will undergo a medical in London on Thursday and he is expected to play a starring role under Liam Rosenior this season.
Enciso will initially join Strasbourg in a deal that could reach €20m, as per Fabrizio Romano, although The Athletic’s David Ornstein has confirmed that he is viewed as a “long-term Chelsea player.”
This has been backed up by Romano, who has revealed that Enciso will spend this season at Strasbourg, before joining Chelsea on a deal until 2031.
The football transfer news expert posted on X: “Julio Enciso will join BlueCo group spending this season at Strasbourg then joining Chelsea, here we go!
“Season 2025/26 in France… and then future at Chelsea, contract until 2031 plus option until 2032. €20m package to Brighton, add-ons included. Medical on Thursday.”
Enciso has been on Chelsea’s radar for several years - dating back to when he scored a thunderous long-range effort to secure a 2-1 win for Brighton at Stamford Bridge back in 2023.
However, the Paraguay international’s career at the AMEX Stadium has stagnated since then, with the 21-year-old suffering a serious knee injury that required two surgeries.
He missed the majority of the 2023-24 campaign as a result, racking up just 472 Premier League minutes, and after failing to break into Fabian Hurzeler’s preferred starting XI last season, he joined Ipswich Town on loan in January.
Enciso registered five goal contributions in 13 Premier League games for Kieran McKenna’s side and he will join Chelsea in 2026 after one season at Strasbourg.
Strasbourg fans ANGRY over Chelsea influence
Strasbourg supporters have expressed their anger at Chelsea’s immense influence over their club in recent months and the signing of Enciso has once again caused tension.
The French outfit have already signed Mike Penders, Mamadou Sarr and Kendry Paez on loan from Chelsea so far this summer, while Blues youngsters Mathis Amougou and Ishe Samuels-Smith have both arrived on permanent deals.
In addition, academy talent Genesis Antwi is now in talks over a switch from Chelsea to Strasbourg, as per reports.
