Chelsea Transfer News Today: Three deals COMPLETED as Xavi Simons delay explained
FootballTransfers runs through all the latest Chelsea transfer news, rumours and gossip, including updates on Xavi Simons and Jorrel Hato.
Three transfers confirmed
Chelsea have officially completed three transfers so far today, with two outgoings and one incoming.
Mamadou Sarr has been loaned back to Strasbourg, after joining Chelsea from the French club in June, and Leo Castledine has been sent to League One side Huddersfield Town for the duration of the 2025-26 season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have completed the signing of 14-year-old Manchester City midfielder Isaac McGillvary, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Xavi Simons update
Chelsea are yet to finalise an agreement with RB Leipzig for the signing of Xavi Simons, although they have agreed personal terms with the Netherlands international.
Despite this, the Blues are currently focused on player sales and BILD claim that Enzo Maresca’s side will not sign Simons until at least one big-name player leaves the club first.
However, Chelsea may be handed the chance to include Christopher Nkunku in a swap deal bid for Simons as Sports Zone have reported that the Frenchman’s name has been mentioned during recent transfer talks.
Nkunku is prioritising a move elsewhere, but he is not completely opposed to returning to the Bundesliga club as a last resort.
Hato medical
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Chelsea will sign Jorrel Hato from Ajax, revealing key details of a move that has been in the works for several days.
Taking to X, the football transfer news expert said: “Understand Jorrel Hato starts his medical as new Chelsea player later today.
“Documents completed by Chelsea and Ajax, player undergoing medical then set to sign contract valid until June 2032. Deal done, confirmed.”
Chelsea are expected to pay a package worth around €43m for the Netherlands star and he is set to provide cover for Marc Cucurella at left-back.
Bomb Squad plan
Chelsea are reportedly “pressing ahead” with their plan to offload the current members of their ‘bomb squad.
That is according to The Evening Standard, who state that Chelsea are determined to offload the remaining members of their ‘bomb squad.’
Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Renato Veiga, Axel Disasi, Carney Chukwuemeka, Lesley Ugochukwu and Armando Broja have all been deemed surplus to requirements by the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge, while Alfie Gilchrist, David Datro Fofana, Christopher Nkunku, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Nicolas Jackson have also been linked with permanent exits.
Jackson issues message
Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has issued a defiant message amid significant rumours that he could leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
The Senegal star has been Chelsea’s preferred centre forward since his arrival from Villarreal in 2023, but he appears to have been demoted to third-choice following the summer signings of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap.
When asked for his thoughts on the arrivals of the aforementioned pair, and the competition they will provide, Jackson told D Sports: “Competition? I have no competition. We're all here to help the club. Everyone has their role to play. I'm on a mission. It's up to the coach to make his choices. I focus solely on my work.”
Jackson added: “I'm a Chelsea player. The future belongs to God. If there are any changes, you'll know. For now, I'm focused on my preparation.”
