Nicolas Jackson is officially at war with Chelsea as he looks to complete a move to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich on Transfer Deadline Day.

The Senegal international was deemed surplus to requirements by the Blues hierarchy following the summer signings of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap, and he was told to find a new club before the end of the transfer window.

Aston Villa, Manchester United and Newcastle United were all touted as possible destinations for Jackson, however Bayern emerged as the favourites for his signature last week and they eventually finalised a loan agreement with Chelsea.

Vincent Kompany’s side were expected to sign Jackson on an initial loan deal with an option to buy clause worth €65 million.

The deal was fully agreed between all parties and Jackson travelled to Munich on Saturday in order to undergo his medical and sign his contract with the Bavarian outfit.

However, the transfer was thrown into doubt when the aforementioned Delap went down with a hamstring injury during Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

The Englishman was forced off in the 14th minute at Stamford Bridge and an early diagnosis suggests he could be sidelined for a minimum of eight weeks.

In response, Chelsea cancelled their agreement to loan Jackson to Bayern and ordered him to board a plane back to London.

End of story? No chance. Jackson and his representatives have simply refused to return to Chelsea.

They want to finalise his proposed deal with Bayern and Jackson has no intention of continuing his career at Chelsea after the club opted to cast him aside over the summer.

His agent, Diomansy Kamara, has posted several cryptic hints on social media amid the ongoing saga, including a picture of Bayern’s club badge alongside the caption: “Last 24h.”

Chelsea are now open to letting Jackson leave, although they will only permit a permanent sale or a loan deal with an obligation-to-buy clause included.

Will Nicolas Jackson leave Chelsea on Deadline Day?

It simply remains to be seen. Jackson wants to join Bayern and Bayern want to sign Jackson. But, Chelsea will not allow him to leave unless they sign a replacement.

Conrad Harder had been identified as a top target by the Blues, but reports in Portugal claim that he has “refused” to join Chelsea as he wants to sign for RB Leipzig instead.

As a result, they will be required to identify an alternative and Jackson’s saga is therefore expected to rumble on into the final hours of the summer transfer window.
