Aston Villa, Bayern Munich and Newcastle are all trying to strike a deal for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Senegal international has gone from starting striker to 'Bomb Squad' outcast at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Chelsea bringing in Joao Pedro and Liam Delap as ostensible upgrades on Jackson.

The 24-year-old's time in West London is therefore coming to an end, and Enzo Maresca openly confirmed on Thursday that Chelsea would be 'happy' if Jackson were to leave.

“Christo[pher Nkunku] is the same as Nico. Training with us, but waiting for a solution," Maresca said. "I think it is better if they find a solution as they will be more happy, and the club will feel the same."

While Jackson has been fielding interest for most of the summer, Maresca's comments appear to have sparked a frenzy of activity for the striker, with three clubs now pushing for a deal.

Three-way battle for Jackson

According to Fabrizio Romano and Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, Aston Villa in particular are very keen on signing Jackson this summer as he previously played for Unai Emery at Villarreal.

Talks between the Birmingham club and Chelsea are taking place, although there are suggestions that Villa may only be able to sign Jackson on loan.

Meanwhile, Romano also reports that Bayern and Newcastle are exploring a deal, with both clubs having made contact with Chelsea in the past two days.

Newcastle, of course, are looking for a replacement for wantaway forward Alexander Isak, while Bayern are in the market for an attacker after selling several players and failing with approaches for Nick Woltemade and Nkunku.

Whether Bayern have a realistic chance of signing Jackson is doubtful, as director Max Eberl has confirmed that his higher-ups have mandated that he only make loan signings between now and the end of the window.
