Moises Caicedo SHOCK after Chelsea transfer demand
Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo has reportedly caused a stir at Crystal Palace by advising compatriot Joel Ordonez against moving to Selhurst Park.
The Ecuador international could leave Club Brugge before the end of the window after establishing himself as one of Europe's most interesting young defenders over the past year or so.
Crystal Palace and Marseille are said to be keen on him, with the former eyeing Ordonez as a potential replacement for Marc Guehi, who continues to be courted by Liverpool.
Palace and the Reds have yet to reach an agreement on a fee for Guehi, but Steve Parish has confirmed that he will likely be sold to avoid losing him for nothing when his contract expires next year.
Ordonez would be an exciting replacement for the England international, but Voetbal Primeur reports that he is being advised against joining Palace - by his close friend Moises Caicedo.
Caicedo wanted Ordonez at Chelsea
The report states that the Chelsea midfielder has told Ordonez to prioritise a move to Marseille, who are, of course, coached by Caicedo's former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi.
Palace could likely offer Brugge a better deal for Ordonez, but Caicedo believes that the defender would massively benefit from playing under De Zerbi, despite the ongoing drama at Marseille.
This isn't the first time that Caicedo has sought to influence his friend's career, with reports previously indicating that the midfielder had demanded that Chelsea sign Ordonez this summer.
Ultimately, though, the Blues opted to bring in Mamadou Sarr from Strasbourg and Jorrel Hato from Ajax instead, with the former now having been sent back to France on loan.
Enzo Maresca has asked for a new defender before the deadline after Levi Colwill's ACL injury, but Chelsea are reluctant to bring in a new centre-back, leaving Ordonez to choose between Palace and Marseille.
