Chelsea look to CANCEL another transfer amid Jackson debacle
Chelsea are reportedly eyeing the possibility of cancelling Marc Guiu’s loan move to Sunderland following Liam Delap’s hamstring injury.
Guiu, 19, joined Sunderland on a season-long loan deal in late July and he scored his first goal for the club during their Carabao Cup clash against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday.
However, the Spaniard could reportedly be set to return to Stamford Bridge after just one month after Delap suffered a serious hamstring injury during Chelsea’s 2-0 victory versus Fulham on Saturday.
The Englishman went down clutching his hamstring in the first-half and initial reports state that he could be sidelined for a minimum of eight weeks due to the severity of the issue.
As a result, Chelsea are now scrambling to find a solution, with Joao Pedro currently the club’s only fit senior striker.
Chelsea’s striker update
Nicolas Jackson’s proposed loan move to Bayern Munich has been cancelled by Chelsea, but the Senegal star is refusing to return to London after initially being deemed surplus to requirements by the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are therefore eyeing possible alternative options and Sporting CP’s Conrad Harder has been identified as a legitimate target, as per David Ornstein of The Athletic.
The Telegraph also report that recalling Guiu from his loan spell at Sunderland is also on the cards.
However, the 19-year-old’s deal at the Stadium of Light doesn’t include a break clause, meaning Chelsea would need to finalise an unusual arrangement with Regis Le Bris’ side if they want to bring him back to the club before the end of Transfer Deadline Day.
This information has been confirmed by football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that talks will follow as Chelsea look to agree a deal with Sunderland.
Guiu made 16 appearances for Chelsea during his debut campaign at the club last year, scoring six goals, although he was behind both Christopher Nkunku and Jackson in the pecking order under Enzo Maresca.
