Man Utd transfer finally gets ‘GREEN LIGHT’: Key deal on track for completion
Manchester United are finally poised to complete a transfer that could see their transfer window unlocked.
It’s been a frustrating summer for the Old Trafford club so far. Although Matheus Cunha has been signed from Wolverhampton Wanderers, the long-awaited move to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford appears to have stalled, with the clubs unable to come to a transfer agreement.
Equally, moves away from Man Utd have been slow to materialise. Ruben Amorim’s side have failed to secure a major sale, despite the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Tyrell Malacia all being on the market.
All this could change soon, though. Rashford’s move to Barcelona has been given the “green light” by head coach Hansi Flick, according to FootMercato.
Why do Barcelona want to sign Rashford?
Barcelona are eager to sign another left-sided attacking player, despite missing out on Nico Williams, who chose to sign a new 10-year deal with Athletic Club instead of signing on with the Camp Nou side.
Rashford endured a poor season with the Red Devils, and after a fallout with Amorim finds himself on the transfer market. As such, it has been widely reported that United are willing to accept a €46 million offer for the attacker, who has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €52m – well below his career high of €83m.
His value may have dropped from its peak but there is a belief at Camp Nou that Flick can get Rashford operating at his best. Crucially, the Man Utd star is thought to be open to agreeing a reduced wage, which could help a deal be driven through given Barca’s delicate financial position.
For their part, the Camp Nou side appreciate the England international for his versatility. Barcelona like his ability to play across the frontline, therefore offering cover for Robert Lewandowski in the No.9 role as well as featuring on the wing.
