Two Man Utd transfers COLLAPSE as INEOS lose control
Nice are increasingly keen to assert their independence from Manchester United owners INEOS, according to French media.
The Ligue 1 club had to be placed in a trust last season as both Nice and Man Utd were taking part in the Europa League. INEOS cut ties with French side, but they are now nominally back in charge.
However, the previous campaign showed that Nice are fine without INEOS' involvement. They finished fourth and qualified for the Champions League, while Man Utd slumped to their worst season in Premier League history.
The Ligue 1 outfit also didn't take too kindly to INEOS boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe essentially stating that he doesn't much care for the club and isn't too fond of attending their games.
The relationship between INEOS and Nice appears to be somewhat toxic at this point, and there have been reports of Ratcliffe looking to sell his stake in the club to fully focus on Man Utd.
Nice reject Man Utd transfer
According to Nice-Matin, Nice are increasingly asserting their independence from INEOS and Man Utd and will not be pressured into deals that are only beneficial to the Red Devils.
Last season, the two clubs were barred from doing business with each other, which led to a transfer of Jean-Clair Todibo falling through. Players can now move between the two clubs again, but Nice will only welcome Man Utd players if they can bring 'real added value' to the club.
This has already seen the Ligue 1 side reject a player offered to them by Man Utd on the grounds that they do not want to become the Premier League club's 'nursery.'
Similarly, Man Utd rebuffed Nice's approach for a promising youngster who is expected to be kept around the first team this term. The report did not disclose the names of the players.
Nice are not entirely opposed to being part of INEOS' multi-club empire, but they want to be seen as equal to Man Utd. However, with INEOS still trying to sort out the mess at Old Trafford first and foremost, the two sides will continue to operate individually for the time being.
