Man Utd launch improved Mbeumo bid as transfer expert gives deal positive verdict
Manchester United have reportedly submitted a fresh offer worth €81 million for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo.
The Red Devils have been locked in negotiations for Mbeumo for several weeks and they have now lodged a new bid for the 25-year-old as they look to finally reach an agreement with Brentford.
That is according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who has confirmed that Man Utd have made an improved offer worth an initial €75m, plus an additional €6m in add-ons.
Brentford are reportedly yet to respond to Man Utd’s latest bid, but the Red Devils are eager to finalise a deal as they aim to bolster Ruben Amorim’s squad with the addition of a top-class right winger.
Mbeumo scored 20 Premier League goals last season and he is seen as the ideal player to help guide Man Utd back towards the European places following a dismal 2024-25 campaign, in which they finished 14th in the Premier League table.
The Cameroon international is into the final year of his contract at Brentford, and Man Utd are the clear frontrunners for his signature after Tottenham Hotspur ended their pursuit in order to sign West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus.
Meanwhile, transfer expert Ben Jacobs has provided a positive verdict about the deal to The United Stand. "Given that Mbeumo wants the move, it will be a surprise if this bid isn't accepted," he said.
"he valuation has been met but the structure also needs to be met."
Man Utd's summer transfers
Man Utd have already completed the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha so far this summer, and they are determined to sign Mbeumo as they aim to construct an all-new strike force at Old Trafford.
A centre forward is also a top priority for Amorim, with the Red Devils eager to bring in a replacement for Rasmus Hojlund, who has underwhelmed since his arrival from Atalanta in 2023.
However, top target Liam Delap has joined Chelsea, while Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen are on the verge of completing blockbuster moves to Arsenal and Galatasaray, respectively.
As a result, Man Utd will need to pursue an alternative target, with Fiorentina star Moise Kean among the potential options.
In addition to Cunha, Man Utd have also signed Diego Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik so far this summer, while Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans have all departed on Bosman deals.
