Liverpool want 'Bruno Fernandes' deal for €100m star to secure Isak transfer
Liverpool’s summer is continuing to intensify with Bayern Munich ready to test their resolve by making a second bid for Luis Diaz, despite the Premier League champions insisting the Colombian is not for sale.
With Bayern having missed out on the likes of Nico Williams this summer, the Bundesliga outfit have turned to Diaz to strengthen their wide area but they have seen Liverpool reject their initial €67.5 million offer for the winger.
Liverpool are adamant that Diaz will not be sold this summer even with the 27-year-old asking to leave in seek of a new, long-term contract, with his current deal set to expire in 2027, and also demanding a significant pay rise.
However, German outlet tz report that Liverpool value their forward at ‘over €100m’ and feel he should be compared to Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United, who has received that value of interest from Saudi Pro League sides despite being two years older than Diaz.
Bayern still see Diaz as their preferred target and, while the likes of Rodrygo and Leandro Trossard have been considered, they will return with another bid to Liverpool to try and secure their man.
Barcelona have also held a strong desire for Diaz but their interest isn’t expected to develop due to their financial situation, leaving Bayern to make their move.
Diaz sale could pave Liverpool pathway to Isak
Liverpool may be open to Diaz’s departure due to their ongoing pursuit of Alexander Isak, with Newcastle themselves also insisting that their talismanic forward is not for sale at any cost.
A windfall from Diaz’s sale could allow Liverpool to submit a British transfer record proposal to Newcastle, or at the very least topple them in the race for Hugo Ekitike, with both teams in talks to sign the Eintracht Frankfurt star.
However, Liverpool would also need to replace Diaz and, as Bayern have discovered, the market for left wingers has been a difficult one this summer, hence why Arne Slot is reluctant to lose his own.
Liverpool and Bayern have both been linked to Rodrygo in recent days and it is likely the Brazilian is pursued if he chooses to leave Real Madrid but he, too, is expected to cost in excess of €90m in an issue that is set to drag on throughout the summer.
