Gabriel Jesus in SHOCK London link as Arsenal striker pushed out by Gyokeres
Arsenal’s decision to sign Viktor Gyokeres appears to be the end of Gabriel Jesus at the North London club – but there is no guarantee that he will leave the capital.
After three mixed seasons at the Emirates Stadium, Gabriel Jesus is now destined to leave two years before his contract expires.
The Brazil international did not prove to be the prolific striker required to fire the Gunners to Premier League glory, with serious injury playing a part as he managed only 18 top-flight goals since arriving in a €52 million deal from Manchester City.
Gabriel Jesus, though, could make a move across London to rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a shock revelation reported by CaughtOffside.
Spurs are among a number of teams exploring the possibility of a move for the 28-year-old star.
Thomas Frank’s side have been notably low on firepower since Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich, and there are rumours that Son Heung-Min will depart this summer in a further blow to the Europa League champions’ attack.
A January departure for Jesus?
Tottenham are far from alone in monitoring the possibility of a move for Jesus – although it is noted that the player’s recent injury issues mean that clubs are likely to wait to ensure he’s fully fit before launching any bids. This means that they could wait until January to make a move.
As well as Spurs, interest comes from Newcastle United in the Premier League, while Inter Milan, AC Milan and Barcelona are all considering taking him to the continent.
But Gabriel Jesus could also make a return to Brazil, where the rising powerhouses of Palmeiras and Flamengo are tracking his progress with one eye on making a marquee move for a player with so much left to give if he can rediscover his best leg.
Gyokeres’ arrival at Arsenal arguably relegates him to third-choice No.9 behind both the Sweden international star and Kai Havertz, who may be used in a deeper role this season.
