Chelsea Transfer News Today: Jackson sale funds €100m double signing
All the latest Chelsea transfer news in one place, including updates on Nico Jackson, Xavi Simons and Jorrel Hato.
Chelsea close in on Hato
Chelsea are on the verge of completing the signing of Ajax wonderkid Jorrel Hato, having already agreed personal terms with the 19-year-old last week.
The Netherlands international has handed in a transfer request and is desperate to complete the move to Chelsea. The Blues are looking to pay a fee of around €40 million.
Ajax, meanwhile, are demanding closer to €50m, but there is a clear expectation that a 'middle ground' will be found and this deal will go through shortly.
Chelsea set to make Simons bid
Chelsea are set to make their opening offer for RB Leipzig forward Xavi Simons imminently after holding positive talks with the player over the past week.
Simons is expected to cost around €70m, but Chelsea believe that they can push down this transfer fee. A sell-on clause for Leipzig could serve as a compromise, with the Bundesliga side keen to secure a share of any future fee.
The two clubs maintain a solid relationship, so these final discussions over Simons' price are not expected to cause problems, with the Dutchman prioritising a move to Stamford Bridge.
Jackson price tag unchanged
Chelsea continue to insist that Nicolas Jackson's suitors will have to pay an 'astronomical' €90m+ to sign the Senegal international this summer as they are not actively looking to cash in on him.
The Blues will only sell the striker at the right price, but such a price tag is naturally prohibitive, especially for Premier League admirers such as Man Utd and Newcastle, who need to be wary of financial regulations.
If Jackson is to leave, he is understood to be keen to remain in the Premier League and has reportedly already rebuffed interest from Serie A giants Napoli and AC Milan.
Felix joins Al-Nassr
Portugal international Joao Felix has signed for Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr after an unsuccessful year at Chelsea following his €52m transfer last summer.
Chelsea have managed to recoup the majority of that fee, with the Saudi side paying €30m upfront and a further €20m in easily achievable bonuses.
Given that Felix has failed to consistently perform since his first breakout season, one has to wonder how exactly he continues to command such hefty sums, which have now seen him become the fourth-most expensive player ever in cumulative transfer fees.
