In one of the transfer sagas of the summer, Arsenal will pay Sporting €73.5 million in total for Gyokeres consisting of a €63.5m fixed fee and €10m in add-ons.

Gyokeres has agreed a five-year contract at the Emirates and his medical and official announcement could come within the next 24 hours.

What did Mourinho say?

Mourinho has praised Arsenal for their imminent signing but has issued a tactical warning to the Gunners.

The Special One also pointed out that the difference between the Portuguese Primeira Liga and the Premier League is vast.

“Gyokeres is a great player, I have no doubt about that,” Mourinho said on Canal 11.

“Now, Sporting had a way of playing largely around him or adapted to him; I don’t know what Hugo Viana and Ruben Amorim’s initial thinking was.

“But he’s a player with great potential; it’s clear that in England he’ll play against stronger teams, better players.”
