Arsenal Transfer News Today: Gyokeres deal 'DONE' as new target emerges
All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Viktor Gyokeres, Eberechi Eze and Rodrigo Mora.
Exclusive: Arsenal scout Mora
FootballTransfers understands that Arsenal recently sent scouts to the Club World Cup to watch Porto youngster Rodrigo Mora in action. Man City also kept tabs on his outings at the tournament in the US.
Mora recently extended his contract with the Portuguese giants, but his €70 million release clause makes him an attractive commodity after a breakout season for his boyhood club.
Arsenal have so far shown the strongest interest in the young attacking midfielder and are thought to be leading the race for his signature as things stand.
Gyokeres deal 'done'
Arsenal have reportedly reached a full agreement with Sporting CP to sign star striker Viktor Gyokeres after weeks of speculation. Andrea Berta has been in Portugal to finalise the deal.
A major breakthrough was reached over the weekend, but Sporting had caused a delay by demanding as much as €70m as a guaranteed transfer fee.
Gyokeres will move to Arsenal for €80m, although it remains to be seen if the Gunners ultimately agreed to pay €70m upfront or if they managed to tie a significant chunk of the final fee to bonus payments.
Gyokeres to go down Osimhen route?
It has been suggested that Viktor Gyokeres could leave Sporting on loan should his move to Arsenal collapse for whatever reason. The Swede has made it clear to Sporting that he will never play for them again.
Reports in Portugal suggest that Turkish giants Fenerbahce are waiting in the wings to make a loan offer for Gyokeres should he fail to get his move to England, akin to Victor Osimhen's move to Galatasaray last year.
Fenerbahce have already signed Jhon Duran on loan from Al-Nassr, so Jose Mourinho could have a sensational frontline next season as he seeks to dethrone Galatasaray.
Norgaard becomes third signing
Brentford captain Christian Norgaard will be Arsenal's third signing of the summer after Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi, with the Gunners having finalised the deal to sign him.
Arsenal will pay around €14 million for the 31-year-old Denmark international, who is coming in to replace disgraced former midfielder Thomas Partey after his free agent departure.
Norgaard is viewed as a shrewd reinforcement by the North London club as he has Premier League experience and perfectly suits Mikel Arteta's style.
How will Arsenal pay for Eze?
Gyokeres and Zubimendi will not be the only big-money arrivals at Arsenal this summer, with the Gunners also planning to add Eberechi Eze, who is expected to cost €70m-€80m.
Arsenal will look to finance this deal by paying his fee in instalments as his release clause can reportedly be paid off over a prolonged period of time.
Eze is keen on the move to Arsenal, although there are suggestions that Liverpool could yet make a move.
