Man Utd have held talks with Aston Villa over England striker Ollie Watkins as they continue their search for a top-class centre-forward.

Villa are said to be open to potentially selling their star striker due to their worrying financial situation, although Man Utd's interest is still at an early stage.

Discussions over a deal for Watkins took place when the two clubs spoke about the future of Marcus Rashford, who ultimately decided against moving to Villa permanently.

Tottenham have given up on Bryan Mbeumo for good and are now targeting West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus instead, leaving Man Utd with a clear run at the Brentford star.

Mbeumo has been clear with his club and all of his suitors that he only wants to join Man Utd this summer, but there has still not been a breakthrough in the talks over a fee.

Brentford are demanding a fee in excess of €80 million, a figure that Man Utd have yet to reach with their bids.

Man Utd reportedly view Fiorentina striker Moise Kean as their 'Plan B' should they fail to strike a deal for Mbeumo.

There would be no haggling over a fee with the Serie A club as Kean has a clearly defined price due to his €52m release clause.

However, this may not be a straightforward deal either as his clause is only active for two weeks this summer.

There was significant interest in the pair of highly-rated youngsters, but they will now remain at Old Trafford.

Ngawashi and Gabriel have been making a name for themselves, aged just 16 and 14, respectively.

Arsenal have joined Man Utd in the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, who has been given a €100 million price tag.

It is unclear if Arsenal would be ready to spend that much on the Frenchman, considering that they are currently trying to push down the fees required for Viktor Gyokeres and Benjamin Sesko.

Man Utd have also enquired about the 23-year-old, but they are currently not in a position to match Frankfurt's excessive demand.
