Man Utd hold 'secret' Jadon Sancho swap deal talks after Chelsea exit

Manchester United have offered up Jadon Sancho in exchange for West Ham forward Mohammed Kudus, according to a report.
The Red Devils have been given a fresh headache by the news that Chelsea will incur a €6 million penalty fee to send Sancho back after failing to agree contract terms with the 25-year-old.
Usually, it is common practice for players to pre-agree a permanent contract with their loan clubs in the event that a purchase takes place, but this was not done with Sancho, forcing Chelsea to engage in post-season negotiations.
These talks yielded no fruit as Sancho was unwilling to lower his salary demands to fit into Chelsea's incentive-driven wage structure, prompting the Blues to opt out of their conditional purchase obligation.
However, parent club Man Utd similarly have no intention to keep Sancho around, which means that a solution will have to be found for the winger.
Man Utd offer Sancho swap
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Man Utd held talks with West Ham over a potential swap deal in anticipation of Sancho's return. These discussions took place before Chelsea formally decided to send him back and ultimately broke down.
It is claimed that Man Utd explored the possibility of swapping Sancho for Mohammed Kudus, but the Hammers ultimately turned down the approach due to concerns over how the former would fit into their system.

Sancho would have reportedly been open to making the move to East London, while Kudus similarly would have been keen to join Man Utd. However, no common ground could be found.
Man Utd will therefore have to look for other suitors for Sancho. The former England international likely won't be short of admirers, but his potential cost could prove problematic. FootballTransfers revealed in April that Wolves hold an interest in the 25-year-old.
