World Cup winner 'waiting' for Man Utd after rejecting lucrative transfer

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez is 'waiting' for Manchester United to sign him, according to Argentine media.
The 2022 World Cup winner is expected to leave Birmingham this summer after Aston Villa failed to qualify for the Champions League. The Villans are in a tight Profitability and Sustainability Rules position and will be forced to make some painful sales.
Martinez, who was very emotional after the final game of the season at Villa Park, is thought to be one of the most likely candidates to be sold, although his wife has sought to downplay any transfer talk.
Still, Martinez is fielding interest from several clubs, and it would come as a surprise to see him remain at Aston Villa beyond the summer. Atletico Madrid and Man Utd are two of the biggest names credited with a concrete interest in signing him.
So far, however, little in the way of actual negotiations has materialised, and this may be down to Man Utd's inaction.
Martinez waiting for Man Utd
According to Bolavip, Martinez is prioritising a potential move to Old Trafford and is refusing to engage with other suitors at present. It is asserted that he has little interest in pursuing a lucrative move to Galatasaray because he is waiting for Man Utd to make their move.
The Turkish giants are desperately scrambling to bring in a goalkeeper as long-time No.1 Fernando Muslera is set to depart for Estudiantes after 14 years in Istanbul.

The chances of Galatasaray signing Martinez are seen as very slim, while the Argentine outlet is confident that a move to Old Trafford could be on the cards.
TyC Sports, meanwhile, is more cautious and simply confirms that Man Utd are interested and are offering an 'interesting' project. The Red Devils are focused on offensive reinforcements and haven't yet made a final decision on replacing Andre Onana.
