Sharman-Lowe enjoyed a successful loan spell at Doncaster Rovers last season as he played every available minute en route to the League Two title, keeping 13 clean sheets in 46 league matches.

The Chelsea goalkeeper also spent time on loan at Burton Albion, Havant & Waterlooville and Bromley before his move to Doncaster last year and he will make the step up to League One with Bolton this campaign.

Sharman-Lowe, who is yet to make his senior Chelsea debut, has become Bolton’s fifth signing of the summer window, following the arrivals of Sam Dalby, Xavier Simons, Charlie Warren and Richard Taylor.

Upon confirmation of his move to Bolton, he told the club’s official website: “I’m very excited to be here. It's another great challenge for me. Coming to a club as big as Bolton - with its past in the Premier League as well and aspirations to be back there - I think I can really kick on and it's another great opportunity for me.

“It’s a beautiful stadium and I'm sure there will be a lot of fans here. I’m very excited to get going and I'm really looking forward to the season.

“Hopefully we can get promoted this year. It's obviously been the aim for the past few years and there's a real ambition in the club to get it done this year.”

Chelsea’s summer departures

Sharman-Lowe is the first player to leave Chelsea on loan so far this summer, although Bashir Humphreys and Marcus Bettinelli have been sold to Burnley and Manchester City respectively, while Lucas Bergstrom has departed upon the expiration of his contract.

Furthermore, fellow academy stars Dylan Williams, Eddie Beach, Luke Campbell, Donny McNeilly and Marcell Washington have also left Stamford Bridge.
