Bayern Munich have reportedly decided against signing Chelsea defender Malo Gusto this summer.

Gusto, 22, enjoyed a fantastic debut season at Stamford Bridge, following his arrival from Olympique Lyonnais, but his form suffered a notable dip last campaign and an exit appears to be on the cards.

The France international still has five years remaining on his current contract with Enzo Maresca’s side and he is regarded as one of the best young full-backs in the world, however the Blues will controversially allow him to depart if they receive a suitable offer during the 2025 summer transfer window.

That is according to Chelsea journalist Simon Phillips, who claims that Bayern recently made an approach to sign the 22-year-old this summer.

However, BILD reporter Christian Falk has downplayed rumours of a move to the Allianz Arena and has insisted the Bundesliga champions aren’t actively trying to sign Gusto as things stand.

Vincent Kompany already has Konrad Laimer, Josip Stanisic and Sacha Boey as right-back options available to him, while Joshua Kimmich can also be deployed in this role, and Bayern are therefore unlikely to purchase Gusto this summer.

Malo Gusto slammed by Chelsea fans

Although Gusto showed immense promise during his first season at Chelsea, his downturn in form has led to questions over whether he is good enough to play a prominent role at Stamford Bridge.

In fact, a plethora of fans have taken aim at him following his mistake in the Europa Conference League final and his performance versus Flamengo at the Club World Cup on Friday.
