Arsenal Transfer News Today: Sesko over Gyokeres as Williams slips away

All the latest Arsenal transfer news in one place, including updates on Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres and Nico Williams.
Exclusive: Why Arsenal prefer Sesko

Arsenal are prioritising a move for Benjamin Sesko over Viktor Gyokeres due to his willingness to compete with Kai Havertz for the first-choice striker role, FootballTransfers understands.
Gyokeres, meanwhile, is demanding to be the undisputed starter at his next club, something Arsenal are unwilling to offer given Havertz's impressive performances.
The age of Sesko and his sky-high potential are also key factors in Arsenal's decision. However, Gyokeres remains a viable option should a deal for Sesko not work out.
Gyokeres in Sporting controversy

Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas has confirmed reports from Portugal that there is currently major tension with Gyokeres over a summer transfer.
Varandas disputes that a specific asking price was set for Gyokeres last year, although he has assured that he won't insist on his €100 million release clause being paid.
Gyokeres' representatives have been spreading claims that Sporting have agreed to let the player leave for €70m this summer, but Varandas now states that he wants more to sanction a transfer.
Williams open to Bayern move

Reports in Germany are doubling down on claims that Nico Williams is open to a move to Bayern Munich this summer after holding talks with the Bundesliga champions.
Williams remains a key target for Arsenal, but there have been major doubts about his willingness to leave Athletic Club and his sizeable wage demands, but neither seems to be an issue with regard to a potential move to Bayern.
Meanwhile, Athletic Club are desperate to hand Williams a new contract with an even larger salary and an increased release clause.
Arsenal make Hato call

Arsenal recently made a phone call to verify their interest in Ajax defender Jorrel Hato, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 19-year-old is likely to be on the move this summer.
Chelsea are also in contact with the Netherlands international, with both the Blues and Arsenal targeting him after missing out on Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid.
So far, there are no concrete talks or negotiations taking place, but Hato remains one to watch for the rest of the summer.
Rodrygo not pushing for Real Madrid exit

Rodrygo is not yet demanding to be sold by Real Madrid, according to Fabrizio Romano. He is still waiting to see what his role under Xabi Alonso will be.
The transfer insider did confirm that the Brazilian is a 'dream target' for Arsenal amid heavy links in recent weeks. It would likely take a fee in the region of €100m to sign him this summer.
Arsenal believe that he would be an immediate upgrade on their current left-wing options, but they have yet to open formal talks with the player or Real Madrid.
Arsenal paying more for Zubimendi

Arsenal will pay more for Martin Zubimendi than stipulated in his Real Sociedad release clause. The Gunners have agreed to shell out more so as to get more favourable payment terms.
Triggering his clause would have obliged Arsenal to pay €55m-€60m in one lump sum, but by formally negotiating a different deal, they will be able to pay off his fee in instalments.
Zubimendi is expected to be unveiled by Arsenal shortly as his arrival has already been finalised.
Galatasaray beat Arsenal to Sane

Galatasaray have managed to beat Arsenal to the signing of Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane. The Istanbul giants have offered the Germany international a deal worth €15m net per season.
Galatasaray are also still trying to strike a permanent deal for Victor Osimhen, who would command a similarly hefty salary as well as a €75m transfer fee.
To fund these huge expenditures, Galatasaray are expected to sell off their current training ground before constructing a new one in 2026.
