Newcastle are well placed to complete a stunning double swoop for Marc Guehi and Bryan Mbeumo, according to a report.

The Magpies are gearing up for a huge summer window after refraining from spending big in previous years in order not to fall foul of Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

Eddie Howe and company are confident that they can make some statement signings despite the shock of sporting director Paul Mitchell deciding to step down when the season officially concludes on June 30.

The biggest objective of the summer has seemingly already been completed as reports suggest that Newcastle will keep star striker Alexander Isak amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Transfer insider David Ornstein states that the Swede is 'not for sale at any price' after the Carabao Cup winners managed to qualify for the Champions League by finishing fifth in the Premier League.

Newcastle to sign Guehi and Mbeumo?

The Telegraph has now come out with an explosive report suggesting that Newcastle have already lined up two huge arrivals in the shape of Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi and Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo.

The Magpies have been chasing England international Guehi for over a year, but they failed to agree a deal last summer. Since then, Chelsea have also started to vie for his signature.

Mbeumo, meanwhile, has once again enjoyed an exceptional season and has fired himself onto the radar of a host of top clubs. Earlier this week, news broke that Man Utd have opened talks to sign him.

However, a source close to Newcastle told the above-mentioned outlet that the Magpies are well-placed to sign both this summer in a double deal that is likely to command an outlay of over €120 million.

“Everything is in place, all the work that has been done on players has been finished, and now we have to push the button and get those deals done," the source is quoted as saying. "We know who we want.” The report adds that 'speed is of the essence' to prevent others from hijacking these signings.
